New York Italians Wine Tasting
February 2 @ 6:30 pm - 10:30 pm
In collaboration with our partners Genco Wines and Capri Restaurant,
we are happy to invite you to a tasting of Italian wines!
Directly from Italy will be introducing the newest wines:
Chianti Classico – Sangiovese red wine from CarusVini
Barbera d’Alba – Barbera d’Alba red wine from Massucco
Lambrusco – Lambrusco di Castellazzo red sparkling wine from Vitivinicola Rota
The wines of Italy are more in the limelight than ever.
From north to south there isn’t a region without its characteristic vineyards, its flagship wine cellars and its excel lent wines. The EU system imposes certain rules for every bottle of DOC and DOCG certified wine, which govern a range of different quality factors: the type of grape, the quantity per hectare, geo-graphic origin, etc.
Sounds simple, doesn’t it? Not in the slightest.
Every year has its vintage – 2015 seems particularly promising and each territory not only has different micro-climates, altitudes and exposure to the sun, but lots of different varieties of grape as well. Then Italy itself is a very mixed, complex and variegated country with more than 350 varieties of grape, a great many of which are native. Welcome to the home of nebbiolo, pecorino, aglianico and primitivo, varieties often limited to specific geographical areas, and frequently cultivated alongs the so-called ‘international varieties’, like merlot and cabernet. The wines of Italy await you, to be sampled on a journey through cultures, landscapes and conviviality.
Come meet and mingle with New York Italians, Italians and Italophilies, Italian companies and professionals, new and existing members. Stop by, enjoy a drink and great networking….Italian Style!
